According to John Busby of Athena Mortgages who arrange French mortgages for all the international buyers of P & V property investments, there has been increasing activity in the last 2 months. "Sales at the P & V international office in London have been steady over the last year owing to the solid credentials, the brand and track record of P & V and the excellent borrowing conditions in France. With rates now at historic lows, the likelihood that they will increase in the coming year or so and the availability of mortgages at up to 100 per cent we see this as the perfect time to buy a property in France". Nick Leach UK manager for P & V property investments agrees. "Many of our UK based investors are attracted by the 100 per cent loans as a method to offset the weaker sterling. These loans are not at high rates and loans over 25 years start as low as 2.95%.

Only time will tell if this ambitious target will be met but in the light of the conservative targets and behavior of the P & V group over the past 40 years this positive stance bodes well for the economies on both sides of the channel.

Mr and Mrs Jeremy Hall purchased an abandoned hotel for conversion into a large luxurious villa, here are their comments:

This extension revolutionized a modest villa

This villa was compromised by having only limited living space. Lengthy discussions with the owners evolved into a simple design, embellished with stone arches and pergolas to provide shade from the afternoon sun.

The roof became a feature with solid oak beams and high ceilings to provide a bright warm interior. Windows from the existing house were recycled and installed in the new extension.

The result included a large custom made kitchen with an island, a dining area and corner settee. The new extension immediately became the most popular part of the house.

Creative pool design is one of our specialties

The Jacuzzi shown below was integrated into an organic freeform pool and surrounding plantation with great effect.

The version to the left was designed with independent filtration and heating system to the pool below, enabling use all year round.

Pool houses create separate outdoor living environments, with kitchens and barbecues. They provide great scope for our clients to indulge their imagination. The trick is to work them into the surrounding landscape aesthetically.

Here are three of our pool houses. The design to the left incorporates recycled materials.

Old beams still bear their identification marks.

The roof design is traditional, creating a warm inviting interior. An Indian door was acquired by our clients and fitted to close off the shower.

Reconstituted stone can be shaped and moulded to formwork tops and sinks, then aged to look authentic. The floor tiles are travertine.

He subsequently moved to Australia where interest in modern furniture evolved into the manufacture and marketing of his designs with the establishment of the 'Ekon' brand, which introduced innovative, affordable products to young people. He later launched 'Pricepoint', which grew to six direct-sell retail outlets.

In 1987 he set up 'The Interior Supply Company' to design, construct and furnish quality turnkey offices. Leaving Australia in 1991, he embarked upon a seaborne sabbatical aboard his yacht 'Samarang', living and working in numerous locations around the world.

Returning to dry land, he now specializes in architectural and marine projects. He works with an assistant and two associate French architects, thereby providing a full range of design services ranging from rustic pool-houses to spectacular villas.

The whole idea with Blond and our sister company in Sweden, Hus & Hem, became possible when we got the opportunity to buy a work shop in Indonesia.

We are designing our own furniture and needed somewhere to produce them. Furthermore, to guarantee the quality of our furniture, we needed craftsmen with long experience of working with wood. Our furniture is unique

All our furniture are hand made and of solid wood. We do not compromise. We do not use laminate or other fake materials.

Because we mostly use recycled teak, most part of it coming from old churches, brigdes and houses, around 50 to 100 years old, every piece of wood is unique, created by time and nature.

That means that every piece of furniture we sell is unique, not only by design but also in the way it looks. For example, we can offer tables that's 4 meters long, 105 centimeters wide and 10 centimeters thick. And, it's one, solid piece of wood! It's a unique piece of furniture. It's the same with the rest of our furniture.

When you buy from us you know that your piece is unique. And, everything in our Gallery is for immediate delivery.

We can make exactly the furniture you want

Our specialty is bespoke furniture. If, by chance, there is nothing in our gallery that suits you, or if you have special ideas about design etc, then we can make exactly what you want. No standard measurement, no standard solutions that not suits your needs exactly. It can be anything from a shorter or longer table to bookcases, wine racks, coffee tables to fantasy designs. We also do fitted kitchens and bathrooms furniture.

It's a very simple procedure. Come in to us with your drawing or just your idea and the measurement, talk to Annika and she will help you out. (She is, by the way, the one who design most of our furniture) We will then send the sketch to our factory and you will get a perfected drawing back together with a price. 2-3 months later your furniture will be in place.

My name is Annika Jonsson and I am the designer of most of our furniture. But, I am also working with interior design and renovation of houses and flats. It's something I have done for the last 15 years, first in Sweden, then in London and now at Costa del Sol.
